What this tool does

Remove blank lines entirely or collapse each run to a single blank line. Processing updates live in this browser tab and keeps non-empty lines in their original order.

What counts as empty

A completely empty line always counts as empty. Spaces and tabs count too when the whitespace-only setting is enabled; otherwise they remain content.

Remove versus collapse

Remove all deletes every qualifying blank. Collapse preserves one blank line per run, which is useful for keeping separation between paragraphs.

Leading, trailing, and trim rules

Leading and trailing controls remove retained blank lines at the start or end after cleanup. Trim affects only retained content lines, never the whole input before blank-line classification. If trimming turns retained whitespace into a blank, the selected cleanup rules keep the displayed result stable.
